Luna the Vampire Slayer
A horror-comedy set in modern-day Minneapolis, Luna the reclusive vampire hunter sets as her next target a womanising rake named Sei.
When the latter brings her to the hospital to treat her wounds from a vicious dog bite, Luna begins to have a change of heart, and starts question everything she knows about vampires (which, as it turns out, is very little). Initially wanting to do nothing further with the woman, then sympathetic, Sei helps Luna uncover the truth behind the murders of her family.
Their short but revealing adventure is a delightful tromp through the City of Lakes, and is as much a love letter by the author to the city, as it is to horror-comedies such as What We Do in the Shadows, contemporary urban fantasy, and the Gothic horror genre as a whole.

Sei* is a newly turned vampire, an intense man with blazing red hair styled like a lion's mane. He keeps himself sharply dressed, with a stylised cross pendant, suede dress shoes that click when he walks, a distinctive wallet chain with a sun design, and more often than not, a maroon blazer. Sei was sired by Lyza, 7,000-year-old female vampire with a penchant for mischief. Sei is an Independent vampire, not associated with any clans—none of the old ones, anyway. Sei has an ambition to start a new vampire clan with contemporary sensibilities, and has the charm, now enhanced supernaturally by his vampiric status, to found one. Sei is very smooth-talking and quick-witted, and is able to get his way out of most situations without resorting to his vampire abilities.
Sei, unlike most vampires, has an affinity for wolves, and can transform into a wolf, rather than transforming into a mist or flock of bats. Among one of Sei’s special powers is a superhuman sense of smell, allowing him to detect others from a distance and precisely ascertain their mood and stance, even when undead.
Despite no longer being able to take sustenance from food, Sei still takes pride in his cooking, and makes sure to visit his favourite bottle shop once a week to pick up a natural wine. Sei prefers to feed on the living, but attempts to avoid killing his victims, whenever possible. Sei has numerous thralls to feed on whom he rotates on a regular basis to prevent undue harm to his supply. Sei used to work at a nearby hospital, and is still on good terms with all his fellow co-workers there.
